So weight-loss progress feels amazing. After having my first weigh-in over the 20 pounds lost mark yesterday I’ve been feeling like $1,000,000!! However, its important to remember that this is called Operation Get Skinny, not Operation Weigh Less, or Operation Feel Lighter, or Operation Anything Else Other Than Be Skinny. I’ve been updating my stats spreadsheet everyday with my weight, calories eaten, calories burned and of course, my current sizes.
It’s a little hard to tell from the charts since the actually sizes are there and the size difference has been a small percent of the total. However, the REAL numbers behind Operation Get Skinny after the first 20 pounds say that I’ve lost 1.97 inches off my chest, 3.25 inches of my waist and 2.36 of my neck so far. It may not SOUND like much, but the change is very noticeable when you put in terms or visualize it the way people actually see things.
So, while the title of the post “No, Really, These Were My Skinny Jeans” might a little play on words (and of course how much I hate hipsters), here is what losing 3.25 inches off your waist ACTUALLY looks like:
No no no, this does not mean I’ve done something inappropriate in the dark with someone new. It means exactly what it says… another notch on belt. I’ve lost just under 15 pounds (14.6 to be exact) and just about 2 weeks (15 days). I’m feeling great, a little tired and sore, but trying to stay motivated.
So while my weight might plateau a little bit for a few days at a time, it is GREAT to see the real results of the weight-loss already. It’s hard to great really accurate consistent measurements as you can see from my stats page, but you surely can tell when you pants fit better!
Not only am I wearing shirts that haven’t fit in well over a year if not more, but today when I was getting dressed I looked down and noticed my belt felt like it was a little longer! No squeezing, no sucking it in, no games… my belt is actually down one notch smaller. Now THAT is a great morning!!
Yes, I did do my morning workout, but we’ll get to that later in another post. This is just a quick note about last night.
It was the first night I had been out and seen a few friends in a while. I hadn’t seen most of them since I started this little (read: huge) weight-loss journey and the response and encouragement from everyone was so amazing.
As soon as I walked in the door I got so many comments about how I already looked better, how you could already see the weight coming off! They kept telling me how awesome it was that I was doing this, blogging about it, posting it on Facebook and Twitter. Honestly, that is exactly the kinds of encouragement I need right now.
It was all the motivation I needed to get up this morning and hit the treadmill yet again.
Thank you so much, that was really one of the best nights I’ve had out in a long time. It really was amazing to hear such awesome things from my friends. You guys rock!
Keep it coming, keep following, keep posting, keep commenting, texting, email and calling.
I’ve gotten everything from simple texts saying “good job, keep it up” to comments on blog posts, twitter shout-outs and SO many emails and IMs. It’s really so uplifting to know I’ve surround myself with amazing friends who truly are such great people.
There’s been conversations about how much to work out, what sweeteners to put in my coffee, advice on how to keep myself motivated and some amazing recipes that I will be cooking soon!
I’ll surely post about today’s workouts and how happy I was to get on the scale later this evening. I already did a morning workout and surely will crank out another one when I get home.
Thanks again to all of you for being so awesome and helping me through is. I will succeed, I will get thinner and healthier. Failure is not an option.
